Destination Australia Scholarships Description

The Destination Australia Scholarship programme is funded by the Australia Government Department to help provide financially assistance to both Australian and international students to enable them to study in regional Australia.

Value of Scholarship:

The Destination Australia Scholarship award is valued at 15, 000 Australia Dollars per year. The scholarship is renewable each year base on academic performance. The scholarship would cover tuition fees and living expenses.

Number of Awards:

The number of awards changes each year. For 2021, more than 400 + scholarships were awarded to students

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Destination Australia Scholarship Award, applicants must meet certain criteria.

Requirements for Domestic Students

·        Only students studying at UQ’s regional Gatton campus and living in a regional area are eligible for the Destination Australia Scholarship

·        Applicants must have been offered admission into a full-time approved program but need not have accepted the offer by the scholarship application deadline.

Requirements for International Students

·        Must be new to UQ. Alumni commencing a different degree (i.e. Masters after a Bachelors) are eligible to apply

·        Must be enrolled in an eligible program

·        Must have a minimum of 75% in the previous level of education

·        Must maintain an ongoing residency in the regional area for the time duration of the scholarship, as stated by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure 2016.

·        Are enrolled and studying at the UQ Gatton Campus

·        Must be already accepted into any of the following study levels; Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Honours Degree or Master’s Degree.

·        Maintain a student visa throughout the time of the scholarship
