University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship Description

The University of Melbourne designed the Human Rights Scholarship to provide financial support to students undertaking graduate research in the field of human rights.

Any Graduate research degree programme in the area of human rights offered at the University of Melbourne

Value of Scholarship:

·       The scholarship includes living allowances of $36, 200 per year pro-rata. The duration of the scholarship for students undertaking a Master research degree is 2 years and for students undertaking a Doctorate research degree is up to 3 and a half year. The living allowance also includes limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.

·        Relocation grant of $2,000 for students moving from States or Territories outside Victoria or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia.

·        Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students who require a student visa to study in Australia

Maximally 2 per year

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship, applicants will need to;

·        Must have applied for and satisfy the entry requirements for a Master or Doctorate research degree programme at the University of Melbourne

·        Intend to undertake a graduate research programme in the field of Human Rights

·        Must be committed to the peaceful promotion of respect for human rights that goes beyond academic studies such as being engaged in voluntary work)

·        Must not already complete a research programme at the same or higher level as the course for which the Human Rights scholarship is sought

·        Have in mind to study as a full-time student unless there are compassionate or compelling situations that would hinder you from undertaking a full-time study

·        Not have previously received a Human Rights Scholarship
